Children are sponges; they absorb everything. So what better time is there to introduce them to different languages?
Breakout author and Laguna Niguel resident Patricia Paigerac is onto something with her “Chimmy” series. “Chimmy ‘5 in 1’Languages Alphabet Book” uses a method of teaching children keywords (from A to Z) in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
“My quest is to reach out to children and prepare them with an advantage in language fluency at a young age, in order to initiate a desire to keep learning cultural importance,” Says the French-born Paigerac, who speaks Italian, English and French fluently.
Paigerac began working on the book in 2000, two years after having moved to the United States. The idea for the book came to her when she babysat a little boy whose parents spoke to him in two different languages.
The book’s main character, a whimsical monkey named Chimmy, illustrated by Ivan Ruiz
paigerac follow up, “Chimmy Counts to 10” will be released in the fall.
